On September 12th, 2019 The Vernon ROCKS hosted a free Narcan and QPR Training at the Rockville Public Library. Narcan, also known as Naloxone, is a prescription medication that blocks the effects of opioids (including heroin and prescription drugs) and reverses an overdose. The participants learned about overdose prevention, signs of an overdose, and how to administer Narcan.
In addition, we did a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training. QPR is a suicide prevention training that can be used by anyone to help save a life from suicide. It helps people be able to recognize the warning signs of suicidal behaviors and how to utilize the QPR model to get someone to seek help.
